Bairro Alto, Hotel Boutique in Lisboa

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Inaugurated on May 2005, at a 18th century building that once was the famous ”Grand Hotel de L’Europe”, Bairro Alto Hotel was the first five stars boutique hotel in Portugal and is now a symbol of the best, in terms of hotel business, you can find in the city of Lisbon.

Capturing the indomitable spirit of discovery that Lisbon offers to its visitors, since the city has longstanding connection with explorers, traders and settlers, Bairro alto Hotel embraces and, at the same time, revolutionizes Portuguese traditional architecture.

11 - HallThis was the first hotel project for the decorator José Pedro Vieira and the architect Diogo Rosa La, partners at Basidor Interiores e Design, which brought  city’s outside sense to an interior space. Each detail, from furniture to electric switches, materials, textures and colors, everything was carefully studied  by the duo to cause a complete surprise sensation.

Bairro Alto Hotel represents a fusion between new and old. Throughout an exhausting research, the designers decided to pay homage to the different Portuguese architectural styles over the eras, including exotic influences from its former colonies, combined at the same time with contemporary materials from other countries such as England, France, Morocco and Italy. The past was also meticulously portrayed on the original materials and the use of various styles.

Rooms and suites with a view Lisbon

The 55 rooms, including the four suites, have four colors typically Portuguese as themes: the yellow from the trams, the white marble from the flax, the blue which represents River Tagus and the red from the Lisbon’s roofs.

All rooms have Brazilian wood floor and the walls have 1,5 meter height wood boiserie cover, painted in the corresponding color. Each room shows a different bird, hand-painted by a local artist. The paintings are located at a different place in each room to offer an additional element of surprise.

The contemporary lamps in the room are made in steel and porcelain in contrast to the oval stone bedside tables, manufactured with ”brecha da Arrábida” and inspired in the 1950’s decade.

The seven rooms at the loft all with kakhi wool carpets, are covered with wallpaper. This and the floral pattern bedlinen are both from Ralph Lauren. Gouaches by Virginia Mota and photographs by Nuno Cera adorn the walls.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery interval=”3″ images=”2348,2352,2351,2344,2343,2342,2341,2340,2339″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]

Flores do Bairro Restaurant

Plenty of options to choose from and dishes to share, in a genuine ”bairro” kitchen, with a relaxed and casual yet elegant environment; this is what you’ll find at the new flores do Bairro restaurant.

The decoration is irreverent, traditional, typical form the ”bairro”, yet elegant with a younger, more casual and intimate environment, with the tables placed next to each other and one at the centre of the room for gatherings and for promoting companionship. Color and warmer lighting make the space more welcoming. Fabrics range from leather to flower and herringbone patterns, creating a very contemporary space. The sideboard gives an explosion of color, welcoming the guests into the restaurant and becoming the decorative centerpiece of the space. The window screens provide privacy without eliminating the view to the outside and suggest a more intimate space. The tableware is traditional and with a hand-made touch, evoking older times. This space will simultaneously transport you into the past and into the present.

Terraço BA

Sheltered under a giant Canvas awning, there are comfortable armchairs with blue pillows that invite you to rest and enjoy the best view over the city. The terrace, open from 12:30 am to 10:00 pm (in Winter) and until 12:00 pm (in Summer), offers a relaxes ambient and it is the ideal place for a leisure moment at the end of the day or to spend an afternoon talking with friends. Light meals are served during the all day.

Cafe Bar Ba (originally Patisserie Parisienne) can be accessed by the hotel lobby or by Rua do Alecrim. At the ground level, a huge black varnished triangular table is the main piece of this space.

The circular bar at the corner is framed in the huge windows that surround it, with the auxiliary elevator, of copper mesh, making the connection with the Mezzanine, and contrasting with the white mosaic floor and the tile panels on the wall. In the back, at the wall, there is a panel with light boxes projecting different colors with different intensities. The rotating light display is an invitation to t02 - Caf+® Bar BAhe outside world.

A dimly passage takes us to another room, properly called Igloo Lounge because of its white walls arched ceiling. Once a laboratory  of the drugstore next door, Igloo Lounge could be changed into a TV room (for 25 persons) or a space for private party. The main object is the Plasma display, surrounded by long black sofas contrasting with the orange and red pillows with turquoise flowers.
