Bentley Continental GT, elegant exclusive design

New Bentley Continental GT Convertible is just amazing, showing a new and elegant Bentley exclusive design, marked by sharp lines covering the length of the car. Its low and wide scale give the car an air of power and appearance, an effect highlighted by every detail, from LED headlights of cut glass effect to the LED taillights that resemble the illuminated red gemstones.

“To celebrate the arrival of the GTC, a limited number of First Edition cars have been built. Rare, collectable and extremely luxurious, they feature unique design details, including a first edition exterior badge.”

With the insulated roof of four closed layers, the new Continental GT Convertible distills sophistication. A selection of fabrics that allows you to put your personal stamp on your car: you can opt for a new impressive Tweed roof, for a truly individual touch.

With a completely new quick release mechanism, the roof folds and rests incredibly under the waist of the car. This means that an elegantly designed line slides up from the side panels and around the rear seats, in a unique and fluid curve.

A luxurious artisan interior. A continuous ring of handmade plates sweeps from the fascia to the doors, surrounding the driver and the front passenger. The new Continental GT Convertible represents the latest in British car craftsmanship.

Bentley celebrates 100 years of history

W.O. Bentley Born in 1888 as the youngest of nine siblings, was a railroad engineer before giving way to his passion: the automotive industry.

W.O.´s engineering skills became even more pivotal when he went into business with one of his brothers in 1912, importing French cars made by Doriot, Flandrin and Parant. W.O. discovered a paperweight made of aluminium ,and wondered whether this lightweight material would make a better piston than steel or cast iron. He experimented with creating a new alloy at a foundry, finally settling on a formula of 88% aluminium and 12% copper. And his important discovery was to prove crucial to his success in the years to come.

He was also captain of the Royal Naval Air Service, during the First World War. Recognising his vital contribution to the war effort, W.O. Bentley was awarded 8,000 pounds, which gave him the capital he needed to fulfill his dream and start his own automotive company. And so, on July 10, 1919, Bentley Motors was born. Now, almost 100 years later, his name is known throughout the world for creating cars with an unparalleled combination in performance, finest craftsmanship and materials.

After the success of the first model, the Bentley 3 liters, its six-cylinder engine and 6 liters and a half was launched in 1926, originally as Big Six and two years later as Speed Six. In 1928, the four cylinders of 4 ½ liters were created, and in 1930 the six cylinders of 8 liters. These were road cars, first of all, but they had the power and endurance to achieve incredible results in the competition.

Bentley soon dominated the 24-hour Le Mans race, taking five wins in seven years.

The 8-liter was the final creation of W.O., considered his masterpiece. Captain W. Gordon Aston, who reviewed the 8 liters of The Tatler, who said: Never in my life have I known a vehicle in which such prodigious performance was linked to such quiet and quiet tranquility.

To celebrate the Centenary of Bentley, a rare and exquisite car was created, inspired by the 8 liters of W.O., the Mulsanne W.O. Mulliner Edition is proudly displayed at the Crewe factory. While Bentley continues to manufacture cars that combine a stimulating performance with an exquisite craftsmanship.
