Mercedes-Benz EQC Electric intelligence

Mercedes-Benz EQC is much more than a motor vehicle with electric drive. This model demonstrates technical features that perfectly align with the image of the brand with the star, such as quality, safety and comfort. The advanced design, unique driving comfort and an absolute suitability for daily driving shows that the EQC is the Mercedes among electric vehicles. This may be seen in its range of specific features, ranging from optimized navigation to cargo management. All these considerations are included in the concept “Electric Intelligence”, the basis for a mobility offer that goes far beyond the purchase of the vehicle

The Mercedes EQC is a fully electric SUV, manufactured by Mercedes-Benz. It is the first vehicle of the new sub-brand of EQ products. It has two electric motors, 408 horses and a large lithium-ion battery that provides a theoretical autonomy of 450 kilometers.

Its competitors are other fully electric SUVs, such as Tesla Model X, Jaguar I-PACE and Audi e-tron.

Exterior design of Mercedes EQC

Mercedes EQC is marked by releasing a new design language of Mercedes EQ sub-brand. With its own features, which include a large grill and a light signage that covers the entire width of the vehicle, both in front and behind, so that the position light is noticed as a horizontal light band, which runs from side to side of the vehicle. Mercedes has also introduced a surface on the front called “Black Panel” wrapping the headlights and the front grid.

Its side view reveals the descent of the backward roof bringing a coupé style to this SUV. Mercedes EQC uses lightweight alloy wheels with improved aerodynamic design. These are tires with two-color finish from 19 to 21 inches.

Among its technological features stands out the “ECO assistant” that indicates the right time to lift the foot from the accelerator while approaching a new speed limit, something that is obtained using the navigation system data and the information provided by the traffic signs recognition system.

There is also a pre-boarding air conditioning system for the passenger compartment, to activate remote air conditioning, through a mobile app.

Mercedes EQC interior design

Mercedes EQC interior design is similar to the one originally launched by Mercedes A-Class, including MBUX multimedia system (Mercedes-Benz User Experience), which comes standard with 2 screens of 10, 25 inches.

A clean and minimalist look, with simple and fluid lines to create a high-tech looking cabin. Mercedes has also included an optical fiber ambient lighting in the driving seat and ventilation diffusers.

Mercedes EQC electric motor and performance

Mercedes EQC uses two electric motors -one on front axle and one on the rear– making it a  four-wheel drive SUV. According to Mercedes “the electric motor of the front axle is optimized to achieve maximum efficiency in the low or medium load range, while the rear motor determines driving dynamics.” The system also allows only the electric motor of the front axle to be used to achieve greater efficiency.

Both electric power units jointly develop an approximate power of 300 kW (408 hp), and maximum set torque amounts to 765 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.1 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 180 kilometers per hour (electronically limited). Its consumption in mixed cycle is 22.2 kWh / 100 km.

Mercedes EQC has a lithium-ion battery, with a useful energy capacity of about 80 kWh, which weighs 650 kilograms. Autonomy from 374 to 416 kilometers depending on the accessories included. It can be charged at loads up to 110 kW, being able to fill in from 10% to 80% load in just 40 minutes, while conventional recharging takes 11 hours for full charge.
