Testing can be done in one day (2 hours of theory and 4 hours of practice), there is no need to take an exam and you obtain your license almost immediately. It is a good starting point for all recreational boating.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><b>Basic Navigation Skipper (BNS):<\/b> It allows to navigate boats up to 8 meters, up to 5 miles from the coast, day and night. It requires taking a written exam and undergoing 8 hours of navigation practices and 4 of radio communications.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><b>Recreational Boats Skipper (RBS):<\/b> You can sail boats up to 15 meters, up to 12 miles from the coast, day and night. It requires taking a written exam and undergoing 16 hours of navigation practices and 12 of radio communications.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: #808080;\">These latter two courses have their mandatory practices (radio communications and motor navigation). What boat do you want to ride?<\/b> If you have a <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">clear answer to this question, you may not need <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">to continue reading. The length of your boat <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">will determine the license you need, although <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">sometimes even if BNS suffices they decide to <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">obtain the RBS in case they rent or buy somet<\/span><span style=\"text-transform: initial;\">hing bigger in the future.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\"><b>2. How much time do you have?<\/b> If you are short <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">of time to prepare for it, you may prefer to get <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">the BNS or even the license to start with. If you <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">go for the Basic Skipper, you can later validate <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">part of the agenda to obtain the RBS. Even <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">though the RBS requires about 6 weeks, it is not <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">much for a lifetime of sailing.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\"><b>3. Do not get stuck:<\/b> If you are very clear that you <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">are not going to ride a boat of over 8 meter of <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">length, it does not make sense to take anything <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">beyond the BNS or the license if it suits your <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">daytime trips plans.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\"><b>4. What is this all about?<\/b> If what you want is to <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">try and have a first contact with boating to <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">figure out if you like it, perhaps the most <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">appropriate is to start with the Navigation <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">License. For less than 200 euros and one <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">full day, you will have a license to start <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">sailing. At Cen\u00e1utica what you spend <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">towards your Navigation License&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">will be discounted it in the <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">following 12 months if you go <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">for a course and practices for <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">BNS or RBS.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\"><b>5. Once I\u2019m committing:<\/b> It is a \u201cstandard\u201d <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">statement of many students, making the RBS <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">the most sought for license, as when someone <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">&#8220;is ready&#8221; one often opts to make the most out <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">of it. Ultimately, it requires less commitment of <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">time and money.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\"><b>6. I just want to join another skipper:<\/b> In this <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">case maybe a license is enough, where you will <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">learn basic maneuvers to help you while on <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">board\u2026 Although ideally one should choose <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">BNS so that he learns how to handle the ship&#8217;s <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">radio and is able to use it if the skipper suffers <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">an accident on board and there\u2019s a need to <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">search for help.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\"><b>7. I want to feel safe:<\/b> If what you want is to have <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">maximum confidence and security, the best <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">alternative is to opt for RBS, which is the one <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">that requires the longest hours of practice. <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">Bearing in mind that with these mandatory mi<\/span><span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">nimum hours nobody completely learns to navigate, you will need to continue to gain experience and in order to achieve it nothing better than making friends with your nautical school classmates, joining someone who owns a boat or joining a Skipper Club to have opportunities to sail.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\"><b>8. I have not studied for a long time, will I be able to pass the exam?<\/b> BNS and RBS study program is simple requiring limited commitment of time.&nbsp; Cenautics instructors are experts in preparing students <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">to make the most of their time and pass at firsttrial. <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">Anyone who has passed driving test can take the <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">BNS or the RBS effortlessly.&nbsp;<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\"><b>9. I am frightened about RBS charts:<\/b> Practically <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">no one fail the exercises of navigation in RBS <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">charts. The only required knowledge prior to the <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">course is to know how to add and subtract. In <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">fact, the key issue to pass the exam is not the <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">charts, but the International Regulations for the <\/span> <span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\">Boarding Prevention.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #808080;\"><span style=\"text-align: inherit; text-transform: initial;\"><b>10.
