Rockade the new bar in la Latina where almost everything is possible. An original staging makes you traves back in time to the Madrid of the 80’s, between pinblalls, arcade games, good music and posters. On the menu, more than 30 beers, cocktails and streef food dishes.
A pedestrian walk through La Latina leads you to the door of Rockade (Almendro Street, 9).
The design of its logo gives you the first clue of what you can find. Colorful lanterns and a bar where Juan rules, is the welcome space. First class cocktails and a collection of whiskies that will leave you blindfolded are the first good impressions.
Two floors of black painted brick walls and good music create the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a revival cruise. Walking down the stairs you could very well meet Marty MacFly, while listening to Elvis or the Rolling Stones.
And suddenly, the magic of the arcade machines, pinball machines and their characteristic drawings, Dirty Harry is the protagonist of one of them; a room, almost like a cave, holds two armchairs for car racing and posters of mythical films, such as Cabaret or Citizen Kane, decorate the walls.
Small tables on Persian rugs and candles complete a decoration that is undoubtedly different and fun; also comfortable.
The waiters, super nice, immediately tell you what they have on the menu or encourage you to play a game of pinball, while they accompany you to your table. A menu with 30 national and international beers covers such interesting territories as Alhambra Amontillado (half liter), Casimiro Trigo, Franziskaner Naturtrüb or Founders Centenial, in addition, of course, to lager, Ipas, toast or Bud-weiser.
Good atmosphere, fun and very mixed in ages and styles. Everyone is having a great time in this special and different bar.
For lunch or dinner, a very simple cuisine, totopos with guacamole, hot pe-rritos, hummus with pita bread, hamburgers or tacos. And afterwards, a drink. Toño, one of the owners, won’t let you leave without trying his grapefruit gin and tonic. The cocktail and spirits menu is very interesting. From the classic Cosmopolitan or mojito to signature drinks.
Rockade is a good bar to meet with friends and travel back in time or learn about the aesthetics that Madrid had many years ago…. (It has a room for 16 people that can be reserved for celebrations.)
