The star brand’s true flagship arrives, the second model of the luxury division with impressive equipment that has nothing to envy to the likes of Rolls-Royce.
The new Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is a reality. The brand with the star has just presented the largest and most luxurious saloon, the marketing of which will start in reverse order to the base model from which it starts. It will first make its debut in the Asian market of China and South Korea and will reach the European market in mid-2021.
The top of the Mercedes range features dimensions that are just as impressive as the enormous proportions, with a 180 millimetre increase in wheelbase compared to the long version of the S-Class.
Aesthetically, there are differences, such as the design of the radiator grille, which is filled with thin chrome bars and enlarged to the bumper with a diamond shape, as well as the special design of the bumper air intakes decorated with chrome mesh.

The second model from Mercedes-Maybach also features first-class lighting technology, the “DIGITAL LIGHT” headlamps able to project images and symbols onto the asphalt. Among other details, the S-Class is also differentiated from the other versions by a separate rear window in the rear pillar.
Inside, space in the rear seats is excellent, with executive seats that can feature electric seatback recline and also extendible footrests and legrests, 50 millimetres larger than on the previous model. The new rear seats have neck and shoulder heating. There is even the option of electric rear doors, a comfort option that closes the rear doors with absolute smoothness.
The Maybach S-Class can be fitted with up to five digital displays in the interior. Two are situated in the front. These are a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel with 3D effect and a 12.8-inch OLED screen that dominates the centre console. Rear seat occupants have three screens at their disposal. Two are behind the front seats, while the third is located in the centre handrest.

Different versions and all with 4MATIC all-wheel drive as standard and active rear-wheel steering, giving customers two options for this system: 4.5° and 10°, which means cutting the turning circle from 13.1 metres to 12.2 or 11.2 metres, respectively.
Mercedes will be offering up to four mechanical versions to move this model, depending on the market.
- The most basic is the Maybach S 450 4MATIC, with a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine and a maximum output of 367 hp. This version is fitted with 48-volt MHEV technology, which adds an extra 21 hp in very specific situations.
- The second version is fitted with the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, giving the Maybach S580 4MATIC a maximum output of 503 hp and 20 alternator starter motors.
- The top-of-the-line Maybach S 680 4MATIC is fitted with the V12 engine with a maximum power output of 612 hp, the only one without EQ Boost technology.
- The German firm will also offer a plug-in hybrid version in some markets, known as the Maybach S 580 4MATIC PHEV with the petrol engine of the entry-level version and an additional 150 hp electric motor.
