Soaring through the sky

Who hasn’t dreamed of soaring through the sky like a bird? Doing it with the grace of a bird is a challenge that few humans can meet, but almost everyone can at least try to emulate the feeling of freedom in the air with the help of technology.

The desert of Gorafe, in the heart of the Granadino Altiplano, is one of those landscapes that the memory captures as soon as you become aware of its dozens of mountains and desert canyons. The sensation is magnified when you see the short-toed eagles that inhabit this part of Andalusia. Andaventur has the Jabalcón hill as the starting point for this paragliding adventure in the skies over Granada, from where you can observe the sinuous shapes created by the water currents as they cross the ravines or the watery mass that is the Negratín reservoir, while your body gets used to the adrenaline of the flight.

The almost perpetual breeze that blows in the north of the peninsula is responsible for the Paragliding Bizkaia team deciding, when the conditions are right, to make the jump from the cliffs of Sopelana to cross the profile of the Bay of Biscay coast from the air. In fact, paragliding is so popular in the Basque Country that it is not unusual for children to accompany their instructors, giving families the opportunity to enjoy the sport together.

One of the best ways to experience the freedom of a bird’s flight is in a hot air balloon. Mallorca Balloons allows itself to be carried away by the winds that cross the Mediterranean to discover the treasures of the island from the air, just as Tot Globo does from the peninsula, in this case the Vall d’Albaida region, one of the historical corners with the greatest heritage of the Valencian interior, as shown by Bocairent, one of its most emblematic municipalities.
