Autumn Boat Shows

Have you ever seen yachts anchored in a bay, enjoying the crystal-clear water, and thought that could be for you?

If you are interested to purchase a yacht, there are many options open to you. Whether it be a new yacht, or pre-owned, there are many types and brands of yacht on the market. You may not be sure which type or size would suit you best, for the type of use you would be interested in.

A great way to get more information, and advice, or simply to see some magnificent yachts, is to visit a boat show. With the summer season drawing to a close, the boat show season in the Mediterranean gets underway.

This boat show season starts of at the beginning of September with arguably the most important boat show in the Mediterranean calendar, the Cannes Yachting Festival. This year from the 6th to the 12th of September, Cannes, in the south of France, plays host to this magnificent boat show. The Cannes show has a fantastic presentation of the majority of models from the most important manufacturers of motor yachts, sailing yachts, and many other types of boats, including some yachts with lengths of over 40 metres.  Apart from the sheer number of yachts available to see, Cannes also offers a wonderful atmosphere during the show, with hotels within walking distance from the show, and great places to eat out in the evening.

The next show on the calendar is the Salone Nautico in Genoa, Italy, which this year takes place from the 22nd to the 27th of September.  Historically, this was the biggest boat show in the Mediterranean, but after the financial crash in 2008, the show lost some presence. During this time, the Genoa show became smaller, and the Cannes show increased in importance. Although Cannes is still bigger, in the last few editions Genoa has been increasing in size with more and more on show.  Many yachts are on display in the water, and there is also a lot of interior exhibition space displaying smaller boats and a great array of nautical equipment.

An amazing spectacle happens in Monaco, directly after the Genoa show, between the 28th of September and the 1st of October. The Monaco Yacht Show is dedicated to Superyachts. Yachts over 24m in length, although most yachts on display will be over 30m, and some even over 100m. Here you will see some of the most spectacular yachts in the world, as well as some exotic tenders and chase boats. For the Monaco Yacht Show, it is best to organize you visit beforehand together with a broker, such as Ventura (info@venturayachts.com). This is the best way to be able to see what you are most interested in, as visits to the yachts are often necessary to be pre-arranged. They will also make sure you get the most out of the show.

Maybe not as big as some of the other shows, however a very nice show to visit is the Salone Náutico in Barcelona from the 12th to the 16th of October. The show has a nice atmosphere, and some interesting yachts on display. A great advantage with the show is being in the heart of this exhilarating city.  It is an ideal opportunity to visit the city, and take in a boat show whilst you are there.
