History of the hotel
The Areias do Seixo Hotel was born from a dream of the owners Marta and Gonçalo. The desire was strong to create a unique place where they could welcome people from all over the world in an environment that was both magical and familiar. From the dream to the construction of this space, many obstacles were overcome.
The result? A place where all the ingredients were chosen with originality and comfort in mind, a place where you simply want to be and live every moment, surrounded by the sea, the dunes and the pine forest.
Special features of the hote
The Hotel Areias do Seixo lives in total respect and harmony with nature. It was born and grew with an eye on the sea, the dunes and the pine forest. It is a low density unit with 15 rooms, 18 villas and townhouses next to the hotel. Each of the rooms is decorated differently, providing a different sensory journey. In some there are African inspirations, in others a romantic ambiance, and there are others where recycling materials is the key word. Unique sensations are created and at every turn the guest will experience a new story.
What they have in common is the view of the sea and the dunes (except one of the rooms has a fantastic view of a small private garden and a charming tent with exclusive access to the top of the dunes), a fireplace, a covered terrace, a bathing area where high showers give the feeling of falling rain.
The hotel also has a restaurant whose objective is to share with its visitors the “real” good food, made with love, a grocery store where olive oils, jams, foods and objects good for the body and soul predominate, a comfortable room to enjoy a good movie, a SPA that provides inner harmony and wellness, an outdoor pool and a greenhouse to celebrate events, surrounded by the scents and flavors of aromatic herbs and vegetables.
The key words are: originality, comfort, hospitality… Here, sophistication is mixed with a relaxed atmosphere. It is the ideal place for those who seek a break from the hustle and bustle of urban centers and who, by integrating with nature and the rural environment, seek to acquire a new energy.
Construction process, recovery and decoration
The Areias do Seixo hotel was designed by the architect Vasco Vieira. The decoration of the hotel was signed by Rosário Gabriel, who followed, together with the owners, the works from the beginning, and was responsible for many aspects related to the interior architecture, in addition to the decoration. The decoration also required the participation of the interior designer Isabel Schedel, who started a few months before the opening of the hotel.
The construction has always been developed with an eye to an intervention in harmony with the surrounding nature. Materials such as regional stone, pebbles, glass and wood predominate. The materials and decoration personalize and make this hotel unique and innovative. There are various inspirations and atmospheres… India, Morocco, the African savannah, romantic spaces, some rustic, others sophisticated. Olive trees, wooden sticks placed in the form of labyrinths and papyrus give rise to a perfect mix between indoor and outdoor spaces, breathing nature inside or outside. This hotel is an ecological space that uses the principles of sustainable tourism based on energy efficiency, renewable energy and the use of natural resources.
Accommodation
All accommodations are non-smoking and are not air-conditioned. As a way of life, we value fresh air above all. As part of our sustainability policy, we prefer a differentiated air conditioning system. Our air conditioning system uses geothermal energy to heat and cool the floors, taking advantage of the temperature of the earth’s interior. Since it is a passive air conditioning solution, its effectiveness is not immediate, so we always have fresh air fans to place in the rooms.
Shelter
The type of shelter is different from others, not only because of its unique location, but also because it allows direct contact with nature, in a charming tent. Here, love meets nature. We have time to feel everything slowly, in all senses. Here, we listen to the song of the ocean, we feel the sand on our bare feet, we breathe the salty breeze and the splashes of lavender in the garden, we marvel at the green of the pine forest… We embark on a sensory journey, in a charming tent, where we have turned off (almost) everything so that nature is our only companion. The shelter is a place to share authentic moments, disconnected from the outside world and therefore having neither internet nor air conditioning.
The first available Shelter tent features a salamander, copper bathtub, and uniquely detailed décor; it also has exclusive access to the top of the dune with stunning cliff and sea views.
Rooms of Love
Areias do Seixo offers each guest a different sensory journey in each of the four love rooms. The stories told are enhanced by the smells, views and colors that frame the spaces. Each takes us into a different world. Common elements include a fireplace, Jacuzzi and unique views of the sea and dunes.
The Love Rooms have private terraces. In the Oxalá Room, inspired by North Africa, you can breathe the color of the fire and the sea… In the evening, watch the magnificent sunset over the fire pyre from the terrace… In the Gold and Mi Ma Bô rooms you can enjoy a starlit whirlpool bathtub, and in the Nha Cretcheu room you can enjoy a shower that will give you the sensation of a rain shower.
Gold rooms
The five Gold rooms offer a secret entrance to a world of colors, textures and different sensations, always with the dunes and the sea as a backdrop. Seductively decorated, they are rooms endowed with a radiance that touches the Soul and provokes our senses. Common features include fireplaces and bathrooms, almost all with Jacuzzi, showers reminiscent of falling rain and a covered terrace where, with the garden at your feet, you can enjoy a fantastic sunset or watch the stars come out.
Rooms in the trees
African inspirations and ethnic and recycled elements predominate in the four tree rooms. Discover wood and recycled materials from the hotel’s construction site, lamps and bedspreads from the grandparents’ house, reused iron barrels, Moroccan decorative pieces… A mix of rustic and sophisticated… The charm of each room appeals to our senses and we feel at home here! Outside, a covered terrace always with the sea and the dunes in sight. Its common elements include a fireplace, a high shower reminiscent of falling rain and a Jacuzzi.
Fourth land
A room called Jasmim… Here love, beauty and simplicity reign… Jasmim does not overlook the sea, but its small terrace of olive trees, where day after day, we are invited to attend a fantastic sunrise … It is a piece that leaves us speechless… Surprising and irresistible!
Blue Villas
In the Blue Superior Villas, feel the seduction and comfort, feel the freedom of the wide and airy spaces, feel the magic of the colors and the harmonious contrast between the rustic and the sophisticated… The Atlantic will always be your backdrop!
The Blue Superior villas have large bedrooms, an outdoor pool and a barbecue area. The interior includes a living room with a fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen. Maximum occupancy is 6 people (with the possibility of accommodating two additional people in a bedroom/living room). The Blue Superior Villas are independent houses, located in front of the main hotel building. If you need anything, just contact our reception. They are the best option for families or groups.
Green Villas
Breathe in the tranquility and peace…. Relax and enjoy life slowly… Breathe in the tranquility and peace…. Relax and enjoy life slowly… Villas Green has an outdoor pool and barbecue area. The interior includes a living room with fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen and three bedrooms with bathrooms (maximum six people). The Green Villas are semi-detached houses, located across the street from the main hotel building, but just contact the front desk if you need to. This is the best option for families or small groups.
