Far from the king of winter sports, there is also life and a lot of fun. Mushing is a sport activity that consists of moving in the snow on sleds pulled by dogs.
It originates from the Nordic countries, where it is very common, but thanks to the privileged weather and geographical conditions, it can also be practiced in our country. It originated in Alaska where, in the past, due to the “gold fever”, it was the only way to transport this coveted metal. The vast plain of ice, snow and complicated terrain made it one of the best ways to travel.
The circuits take place on tracks specially chosen for mushing, flat or gently sloping, ideal for reaching maximum speed in safe conditions, both for the dogs and the passengers, and for enjoying the landscape.
The dogs used for mushing are generally large and strong, from breeds such as the Siberian husky or the Alaskan malamute.
They are trained from an early age to be comfortable with humans and to combine sport with pleasure.
